Happy New Year! It’s the start of a brand new year so I think it’s safe to say the festive period is officially over.
The decorations will be coming down and all the Christmas presents will be getting put away in their new homes.
But what about those presents that weren’t quite right for one reason or another? Rather than stuffing them away in a cupboard to never be used or see the light of day again – return them and get your money back… or at least get a credit note or gift voucher.
So many of us tell ourselves we’ll return these unwanted gifts but we never get around to it, so make this the year that you actually take stuff back!… and do it now!
It’s time to start packaging up any gifts that need to be returned because although many shops offer extended Christmas returns, those windows might be closing up quicker than you think.
Lots of retailers allow gifts purchased from around October/November time to be returned in January which is outside of the usual 30 days.
Make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to get a refund and return those unwanted presents, the toys that didn’t work or the clothing that didn’t fit before the extended returns window closes.
Here, I’ve compiled a list of some of the most popular retailer’s Christmas Returns policies, so if you purchased gifts that need returning from any of these stores, these are the important dates you need to take note of.
(The form of refund you get will depend entirely on type of proof of purchase you have (if any) and on the individual retailers returns policy but most places will at least give you a credit note provided the item is in it’s original state.)
